Definition

An arbitrary family of sets, $\{S_\alpha\}_{\alpha\in I}$ is said to cover another set, $X$ if:

• $$X\subseteq\bigcup_{\alpha\in I}S_\alpha$$ , that is to say that:
• $X$ is contained in the union of the members of the family.
