Definition

A homotopy from the topological spaces (X,J) to (Y,K) is a continuous function[1][2]:

  • F:X×IY (where I denotes the unit interval, [0,1]R)

For each tI we have a function:

  • Ft:XY defined by Ft:xF(x,t) - these functions, the Ft are called the stages[1] of the homotopy.
