Complex conjugate

Definition

Given a complex number, $z\in\mathbb{C}$ where $z=a+bj$ and $j$ denotes $\sqrt{-1}$ the complex conjugate of $z$, denoted:

• $z^*$ (how I was taught at A-level)
• $\bar{z}$ (what I prefer)

is defined as: $z^*=\bar{z}:=a-bj$
